In the mood for a little aloha? $50 Roy's Gift Card Giveaway!

Has it really been almost five years since our honeymoon in Maui? After all the stress of the final weeks of wedding planning and the intensity of the wedding itself, Maui was just what we needed. I remember being there and thinking that the landscape looked a lot like parts of Southern California, but the air, the people, the light, the scents, and the food was unmistakably Hawaii.

Is a dinner at Roy's like going to Hawaii? Well, of course not. But there are hints of the Hawaii in the flavors of the food, the decor, and, forgive me, but I completely fall for the copious use of "Aloha!"

Want a tiny slice of aloha? I have a $50 Roy's gift card for one lucky person! Just leave your memories or idea of Hawaii in one word in the comments and make sure to add your contact info so I can find you. I'll use random.org to randomly pick the winner on August 2nd.

Good luck!

Oooh OK, I'll play! The word that best describes my memories of Hawaii is "love" because my husband and I were married in Maui 4 years ago and had the most wonderful time. :)

I would say "breezy." I was in Maui five years ago too! My college friend got married at the Four Seasons.

I thought the weather was pretty similar to SoCal, but it was the wind and breezes that distinguished I was on a tropical island. Or perhaps right before then, I was really stressed, and going to Maui made everything feel "breezy."

Or, I'm just full of it and couldn't think of a good one word to describe that week. :P

Hawaii was the last big vacation we took before Nuni came along -- I don't think I've been that relaxed since!

I'll play! If I could live in Maui, I would. I feel at home there. I used to go there as a child every few years, then my husband & I honeymooned there. We've been back every year since then. It truly is our home away from home. Nothing else compares.

one word?....how about "nausea" i got sick on two helicopter tours, submarine tour and catamaran tour, and on a kayak trip where we were almost washed out to see, only to force our way back to shore about 3/4 a mile down from our beach, it was a beautiful, magical, trip nonetheless. can't wait to go back

Gotta say that I would say "rainy." Haven't been to Hawaii since I was little (like 9 or 10). We were there on Christmas Eve and it was crazy rain. Hot dogs for Xmas dinner!

My word: comfort

My family has been going to Hawaii every spring for the past... 15 years! Wow I can't believe it's been so long! We visit the Roy's (now in Waikiki) in Honolulu every year for my mom's birthday and I die for the chocolate souffle cake!

When I think of Hawaii, the one word that comes to mind is "Paradise". That really sums it up. :)

In one word I would describe my Hawaiian experience as: "relaxation." My husband and I honeymooned in Kauai 5 years ago and after all the hustle and bustle of planning a wedding we finally were able to relax. We had no schedule. We rented a house by the beach and I have never felt so carefree and relaxed in all my life. Wonderful memories! Now 5 years and two kids later, I would love to go back! :) kimeagle2005@gmail.com

I'd say "warm", because based on the last time I went there, it was always warm, even when it was raining! Loved it, though. Last time I went there was about five years ago. I was about thirteen or fourteen at the time and I went without family. It was pretty fun, but I got sad when I realized how much I wished they were there to have fun with me too.

"Together"
I've only been to Hawaii once but it was on a cruise with my siblings and parents. It was the first cruise we had gone on as just our family of four. I loved just being together and enjoying each others company in such a beautiful place.

One word to describe Hawaii...
welcoming

I have never felt more welcomed and at home in my life. Everywhere we went, locals were genuinely happy to greet us and graciously host us.
